When I was in school, I remember the first time I was taught B.C. and A.D. The teacher said before Christ was born was the meaning of B.C. and A.D. meant after the death of Christ. I was immediately confused because I couldn’t figure out how that was so. I asked myself, “if B.C. is before He was born and A.D. is after He died, then what do you call the time period when he was alive (after He was born (A.B.?) and before He died (B.D.?))?” I was so afraid to ask the teacher, because I thought for sure I would get in trouble for questioning (challenging) the teacher. Every year in the public-school system after learning B.C. and A.D., that question would come into my mind, but I never had the courage to ask.
Thankfully, I went to college and my first semester I took Western Civilization, and thank the Lord, I learned the truth. The professor, Professor Farina revealed the truth to me and my eyes went wide, because I finally understood why “after the death” did not make any sense. I was also frustrated and angry that the school system thought it was okay to lie to children. For those who are in the dark, B.C. means before Christ was born and A.D. means anno Domini. This is a Latin term and translates into (English) year Lord. The interpretation is “in the year of our Lord,” basically, meaning after the Lord’s birth.
I am assuming (I know you are not supposed to ASSume) the school system thought children would be too dumb to understand Latin so they came up with a lie. Either or, I realized that, that was just one of the many, many, many lies the school system taught. Ever since college I have been researching everything I have been taught, only to find out most of it were straight up lies.
Most of America’s disagreements today are simply caused by lies Americans believe to be true. Take time to read, research, and re-study (the new three Rs) what you have been taught, because if you learned it in school there is a high chance it is a lie.
